A Regional Economic Growth Strategy and Action Plan
The Eastern Region of Nova Scotia faces a rapidly changing economic environment. Shifting demographics within the region and substantial changes in both local and global economics have significant effects on the local economy. Driven by these internal and external forces the region will
consider the opportunities and challenges ahead and develop an action plan with an integrated framework for economic growth and development.
Operating from a position of common purpose and dedicated to preserving and building the future of the regional economy, businesses, organizations and the public sector will develop and implement a regional economic assembly. The purpose of the assembly is to unite business and community leaders to promote regional economic growth and prosperity. The assembly will provide an opportunity to fully explore and examine the various forces affecting the region’s economy, and to set the agenda and lay the groundwork for future economic growth.
The assembly will deliver both short and long term benefits including creating a regional knowledge base, identification of immediate and longer term actions, building sustained regional relationships, and setting realistic, achievable short, medium and long term goals. The assembly will focus on the assets of the region and on how to best employ and leverage them to achieve sustained, real, economic growth.
